The Dark Knight

on Thursday July 24, 2008 @ 06:06pm[ more ] Man I get tingly just typing the title. Jesus, where do I start? If you haven't seen it yet...you suck, hard, sweaty balls and are only cheating yourself. Without a SHADOW of a doubt, the best Batman movie ever. The best superhero movie as well. Hell, better than most crime drama's I've seen (one reviewer said "a crime epic on par with the Godfather") which I won't agree with, if you'll forgive me. As I'm sure you've heard...the Joker steals the movie. Were he not in it, it wouldn't be half as good as it is. I really mourn Ledger now as this movie would have obviously catapulted his career into being a major leading Hollywood actor. Every scene he's in you'll want to rewind and re watch a billion times. I've already seen it 3 times and each time it leaves me wanting to watch it again. It's been a long time since I saw a movie that left me physically exhausted from watching it. Heath Ledger's "The Joker" is easily one of my top 5 favorite fictional characters of all time now. Seriously...go see it, and let's talk about it.

Generation Kill

on Monday July 21, 2008 @ 11:14am[ more ] Anyone been watching Generation Kill on HBO?!? Just caught the first and second episodes this weekend, really good show for those of you into war movies. Since the war is still ongoing in Iraq, this is pretty hard hitting... I mean, I know we've seen movies here and there come out in regards to the war in Iraq, but nothing hard hitting like a mini series almost to the tune of Band of Brothers.

Upgrade drags Stealth Bomber IT systems into the 90s

on Tuesday July 15, 2008 @ 10:05am[ Code ] [ 3 replies ] Upgrade drags Stealth Bomber IT systems into the 90s US aerospace heavyweight Northrop Grumman has revealed some details of a planned upgrade to the computing system of the famous B-2 Stealth Bomber, one of the most expensive and unusual aircraft in the world. According to reports, the well-known but seldom seen ghost bomber will be finally moving up to Pentium processors and code written in C. The B-2 will also get a new disk drive.
[...] It seems that the current OFP was written in a now-obsolete programming language called JOVIAL. Northrop are proud to announce that they have figured out how to translate the code into a "newer, more modern programming language called C
Yummy Nutraloaf

on Monday July 14, 2008 @ 11:36am[ 2 replies ] Taste-Testing Nutraloaf Nobody thinks prison food is haute cuisine, but could it be so bad it's unconstitutional? The question comes up more often than you might think, and there's one dish in particular that so offends the palates of America's prisoners that it's repeatedly been the subject of lawsuits: Nutraloaf. Nutraloaf (sometimes called Nutri-loaf, sometimes just "the loaf") is served in state prisons around the country. It's not part of the regular menu but is prescribed for inmates who have misbehaved in various ways?usually by proving untrustworthy with their utensils. The loaf provides a full day's nutrients, and it's finger food?no fork necessary. Now this is some vile looking stuff. Yech.
Radical physics work

on Friday July 11, 2008 @ 02:12pm[ Pie ] [ 5 replies ] http://www.blacklightpower.com/ "BlackLight has invented a new primary energy source with applications to heating, distributed power generation, central power generation, and motive power based on a new chemical process of releasing the latent energy of the hydrogen atom, the BlackLight Process. In this process, the electron in an ordinary hydrogen atom is induced to move closer to the proton, below the prior-known ground state to form more stable hydrogen atoms called hydrinos. The large energy released exceeds that required to extract hydrogen from water, such that water may serve as the hydrogen fuel source for the process." One phrase summary: a radical new type of hydrogen chemistry which generates electric power from water, but not involving "cold fusion". - And the abstract of his book: "Dr. Mills has built on the field generally known as Quantum Mechanics by deriving a new atomic theory--The Grand Unified Theory of Classical Physics (GUT-CP)--from first principles, which unifies Maxwell's Equations, Newton's Laws, and Einstein's General and Special Relativity. The central feature is that physical laws hold over all scales, from the scale of subatomic particles to that of the cosmos. Quantum Mechanics has remained mysterious to all who have encountered it. Whereas Schrödinger postulated a boundary condition that the wavefunction goes to zero as the radius goes to infinity, resulting in a purely mathematical model of the hydrogen atom, GUT-CP was derived from known physics, i.e. Maxwell's Equations. Under special conditions, an extended distribution of charge may accelerate without radiating energy. This leads to a physical model of subatomic particles, atoms, and molecules. Equations are closed-form solutions containing fundamental constants only and agree with experimental observations. Further, the Schwarzschild Metric is derived by applying Maxwell's Equations to electromagnetic and gravitational fields at particle production. This modifies General Relativity to include conservation of spacetime and gives the origin of gravity, the masses of fundamental particles, the acceleration of the expansion of the universe (predicted by Dr. Mills in 1995 and since confirmed experimentally), and overturns the Big Bang model of the origin of the universe." One phrase summary: a unified theory of physics using classical mechanics which casts doubt on almost everything if it's true. Another one phrase summary: holy fucking shit.
