Google reader was great because it worked on any of my computers, plus my phone, and everything was in sync. It really sucks it's going away. Looks like I'll need another news reading solution.. suggestions?

China claims successful test of microwave relativity engine Researchers in China say that they've successfully managed to test an engine that runs on electricity, requires no propellant and produces no exhaust. It's called the EmDrive, and it's able to convert microwave energy directly into thrust inside a sealed chamber. Oh, it's totally silent and highly efficient, too. If it seems too good to be true, well, you're not the only one who feels that way. But the researchers have a prototype that apparently works, and they've just published a paper detailing it.

The biggest reason is that we aren't "stuff" people and the idea of holding onto a bunch of crap from our combined households just seems silly, the other is that it gives us an opportunity to start over when we get back and build up a new house with nice stuff that all goes together and all that girl shit. Anyway, as we go through and pick out the stuff we want to keep, we keep finding shit we don't want to keep, but can't replace later. Which brings me to my point... Since I don't want to buy a bunch of new equipment, nor do I have time, I want to find a service that burns VHS tapes to mpeg (or DVD or whatever). None of it is particularly private (birthday parties, skydives, climbing the Eiffel tower, shit like that), so I have no need of privacy, but I hate to pay a dude $25 to burn a 2 hour VHS Any recommendations?

The game they play is fundamentally the same as the schoolyard version: One player is "It" until he tags someone else. But men in their 40s can't easily chase each other around the playground, at least not without making people nervous, so this tag has a twist. There are no geographic restrictions and the game is live for the entire month of February. LaCie teased us at CES with the prospect of a rare high-concept hard drive design in the Blade Runner, but it left out the rather important matter of when we could buy the Philippe Starck-designed storage. As we've discovered, we didn't have to wait long -- the Blade Runner has just become available. Plunk down $300 and you'll get a 4TB, USB 3.0-based external drive that melds a blob-like disk shell with aluminum blades that both cool the main body and create a (minor) conversation piece.
