on Saturday March 10, 2012 @ 06:31pm[ 10 replies ] This came up on NPR today. Seems some shows are more liked by liberal vs conservative voters. So given what a person watches, you can guess their political stance. I took the online quiz and it said I was conservative, followed up by liberal then moderate. http://datanews.wnyc.org/match_game/game-vote-by-remote

on Thursday May 19, 2011 @ 01:08pm[ 2 replies ] So friends from China and Russia are telling me some interesting things about Dominique Strauss-Kahn. I've always appreciated your world view on things since you don't limit your mind to what American media says and you see the world from a different perspective. They are saying Strauss-Kahn was obviously set up by the US. This is a guy with plenty of money and power and he can have Presidents of countries throw women at him. Why bother with some 30 year old maid. The US took him down so he won't run against and defeat Sarcozy in the next election since it was looking like Strauss-Kahn would defeat Sarcozy. Our price to do this was having Sarcozy turn on Ghadafi and lead the charge against Libya so we don't have to do it and only further appear as war-mongering. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Arab-French relations (besides the Rai music I still listen too). However, my gf was a diplomatic translator for the United Nations, has French citizenship, and speaks fluent French. She is Chinese but lived in France for several years. She told me this tin foil hat scheme makes sense. I remember when Sarcozy lead the charge against Libya she even was very confused about it. She said her impression was such that Sarcozy and Ghadafi were pretty tight.
And now for some real conversation..

on Monday November 15, 2010 @ 11:53am[ 2 replies ] A friend from the NL sent me this link - http://www.seniorlivingmag.com/articles/america-hes-your-president-for-goodness-sake It's interesting in that it brings up a good point. How far we have gone from being 'American' to being something else. I mean, I know we have the right to do it, it doesn't mean that we should.. Idiocracy is on it's way folks.

harassment from Jamaican phone scammers

on Monday July 20, 2009 @ 12:08am[ 15 replies ] Well this is a new one on me. Seems the latest is calls from Jamaica (area code 876) claiming you have won the lottery and have to wire money to claim your prize. Lots of old people are falling prey to this scam, and losing their life savings as a result. Anyway where Morgan is staying in New Jersey, the house is owned by this guy who doesn't actually live there, and so they're getting multiple calls asking for him. Some of the calls are even late at night. She gets a call, says that they guy doesn't live here and to stop calling. She also refuses to tell the guy who she is when asked. The Jamaican scammer eventually gets pissed and says he's going to keep calling all day, and calls every few minutes for hours. Doesn't seem like an effective strategy on the scammers part.

on Wednesday March 25, 2009 @ 08:57am[ 3 replies ] U.S. bill seeks to rescue faltering newspapers Why does the government feel the need to save everything? People don't read newspapers, they get their news on-line, so why save the newspapers? I just don't understand the idea behind saving failed business models and bad business practices (and yes, this extends to the Auto, Airplane and farming industries). We can't subsidize everything. While right now it doesn't have any sponsors, I hope it doesn't go anywhere.. it's just a bad idea.
