In case anyone wants to follow along in the adventures of SPS and the migration west, here's the route I'll be taking.

Stay at D Wednesday
D-F Thursday, unless the movers won't be there Friday, then I'll stop Thursday night at E and do E-F Friday.

I'll have latitude turned on and broadcasting so if you want to see if I'm moving or dead.. there you go.

In my attempt to make myself feel better I went out and spent some money on myself. I just picked up a Lenovo X301 laptop (demo unit, last one in the store) and it's brilliant. What a fantastic little laptop. 13" (1400x900), great screen, fantastic keyboard, wifi, wlan, SSD drive, I've loaded it up to 4gb and win7 is quick as can be. Just brilliant. This thing is even lighter then my Atom netbook. I've always wanted to get a Thinkpad since even before IBM sold them but they have always been a bit on the $$ side.. but since I'm going to be doing some traveling and training, I figured time to get a better notebook. I'm totally happy with the purchase. I almost got one of the T410s's, but I saved over $500 getting the X301 and it seems to be that it might be a quieter, cooler and plenty powerful laptop. Yeah Me.

Now I just need to find a place to live.

So I'm not sure if everyone caught on Facebook that our man from Rotterdam is now happily ENGAGED!! Now, is it just me, or was that a TOTAL FUCKING SHOCK? I didn't even know he had a woman, let alone one he was planning to propose to.

This now puts SPS on a whole new level of Stealth. Who knows what he could be plotting or conspiring when he can keep secrets such as this. WTF?!?!

So.. today, one the way to drop my car off at the port for it's happy boat ride back to the states, I get a call from my boss back in DC and he says that the Indian Affairs (IA) people said they had some money cuts and ended up cutting 4 slots, 2 belonging to us and 2 to another company.. and I got cut. So, I get to stay here in the EU for a bit. I'm totally not happy right now. I've got half my stuff in boxes and empty boxes around the rest of the house. I had appointments to look at houses, cars, planes and other things all settled.. 24 more hours and I would have been pretty much all packed up and out of here.

Fuck.

Seriously. So, right now I'm still working in Holland and TOTALLY looking for a job in the states.. WA, OR, CA, CO.. NC.. Northern Nevada maybe..

Anyone know anything that's open, looking for a jack of all trades?

This serves as notice that, pending the government not issuing the contract they said they would, on or around 25 June I will be moving back to the USA. It seems as though the prime contract holder for this new contract will start taking over some of the spots in the EU and my company has made me a nice offer to come back to the DC are and do some work for some other Federal Agency. I'm starting to get quotes for movers, plan out packing days and all that jazz.

I'll probably be living up near Dulles Airport (the new office is in Reston) so outside the beltway, but still close enough to get into town when I want too.

So yeah.. good and bad. I'll miss some things out here, but I am looking forwards to seeing some people and being able to maybe start a new, semi permanent life somewhere.

As for travel back to the West Coast.. my current time this year is spoken for, but at least I'll be closer to the next event.

Rub - That means I won't be here in July.. sorry man.

Anyone watch this show? I'm catching up on it and Maura Tierney (Abby Lockhart) has been on the show for an episode or two.. she's FUNNY. And still looking DAMN good. Anyways, just tossing that out there.
