New Toy..

on Tuesday October 12, 2010 @ 08:58pm[ 13 replies ] In my attempt to make myself feel better I went out and spent some money on myself. I just picked up a Lenovo X301 laptop (demo unit, last one in the store) and it's brilliant. What a fantastic little laptop. 13" (1400x900), great screen, fantastic keyboard, wifi, wlan, SSD drive, I've loaded it up to 4gb and win7 is quick as can be. Just brilliant. This thing is even lighter then my Atom netbook. I've always wanted to get a Thinkpad since even before IBM sold them but they have always been a bit on the $$ side.. but since I'm going to be doing some traveling and training, I figured time to get a better notebook. I'm totally happy with the purchase. I almost got one of the T410s's, but I saved over $500 getting the X301 and it seems to be that it might be a quieter, cooler and plenty powerful laptop. Yeah Me.
Congrats SPS!

on Monday June 21, 2010 @ 11:34am[ 20 replies ] So.. today, one the way to drop my car off at the port for it's happy boat ride back to the states, I get a call from my boss back in DC and he says that the Indian Affairs (IA) people said they had some money cuts and ended up cutting 4 slots, 2 belonging to us and 2 to another company.. and I got cut. So, I get to stay here in the EU for a bit. I'm totally not happy right now. I've got half my stuff in boxes and empty boxes around the rest of the house. I had appointments to look at houses, cars, planes and other things all settled.. 24 more hours and I would have been pretty much all packed up and out of here.

on Friday May 21, 2010 @ 03:49pm[ 45 replies ] This serves as notice that, pending the government not issuing the contract they said they would, on or around 25 June I will be moving back to the USA. It seems as though the prime contract holder for this new contract will start taking over some of the spots in the EU and my company has made me a nice offer to come back to the DC are and do some work for some other Federal Agency. I'm starting to get quotes for movers, plan out packing days and all that jazz.

Yeah for wine..

on Sunday March 1, 2009 @ 06:44am[ 40 replies ] So I just thought I'd share.. yesterday afternoon I spent about 4 hours with some friends over at this little wine shop near Rotterdam. We rolled in like 14 deep, sat around a table and the owner just started bringing cheese, bread, water and bottles of wine.. great whites and reds, for the next few hours. It was really. We must have tried out about 20 different bottles.. it was great. I ended up with a pretty good sized bill for the wine I bought (38 bottles) but it was fantastic. Learned some cool things and had a really good time. Came home around time for dinner and already had a good buzz going.
Well happy new year ladies..

on Monday December 31, 2007 @ 04:32pm[ 23 replies ] It's 2-double-oh-8 out here in the lowlands.. what a fun night. These guys let you buy whatever fireworks you want and lite them off in the streets, no problems. Damn.. that was fun. I bought a few boxes of stuff, some are the larger, multi-part professional big boys.. lit them off for about 30 minutes. There was already a low fog in the air and with everyone lighting things off it got worse. Driving home was like driving through a war zone, clouds, bangs, flashes of light.. trash everywhere.. WOW. Definitely cooler then hanging out downtown somewhere with crowds of people.. watching everyone lit there own stuff and just continue to light it off.. bad ass.
The Market..
Posted by Stealth
on Monday July 23, 2007 @ 10:06am[ 84 replies ] I'm not a big fan of the stock market. I think it's a bit of smoke and mirrors and while it started good, had good beginnings, it's turned into a gamble bigger then a casino. So it came as a relief when I came across an article containing a piece written by Mark Cuban about the market. The article talks about what he noticed (as a recent millionaire) when he went to invest and where the market is headed today. This is a forward to a book called "The Number". Anyways, it's a pretty good read, worth the 10 minutes of your time and might even spark a bit of conversation (I'm not holding my breath). I suppose the market still makes sense for some things, but in general.. it's a bit of bollocks. If you got time.. give it a read.

G Ride..

on Monday June 11, 2007 @ 04:22pm[ 17 replies ] For anyone that's curious.. Stealth man just got a new ride. I don't have a lot of pictures of it yet, but there are plenty of them out there (pictures that is, not the cars themselves). It's fast and fun. I had it up at 150+ MPH on the way back down through Germany.. and I plan on taking it there again (and again and again and again). It's Dark Silver.. Light Tan interior.. AWD with an inline 5 (with a turbo) that outputs about 300whp & 295tlbs (stock). It's one of the last ones to roll off the line in Sweden (and yes, I did pick it up from the factory). I've already done a few things to it and after about a year or two I'll do some more. Should be pretty easy to get it up about 350hp (new DP, Chip and Exhaust) and then I'll do a bit with the wheels, the bars.. and the list goes on and on. But damn.. it's a fun car.

New p2p system..
Posted by Stealth
on Monday April 9, 2007 @ 01:36am[ 3 replies ] So you may have played with Waste, torrents and emule but there seems to be a new kid on the block. the The Owner-Free Filesystem. I am still reading about it, but it seems to be that you share blocks of 'noise' and those blocks can then be used to recreate some file. IE: blocks of the digital bible could also be used to create T2.avi. Interesting concept.. Basically, it boils down to the fact that everything you transfer is legal and there's no reason to hide. Humm.
