And for the most part, natural desert plants are not the ones that bug me. It's the damned fruitless mulberry, olive, and oleander they were planing all over Vegas that get me.

You know, like that huge fucking tree he has in his front yard!

I know. I need to cut it down and plant something I'm not allergic to, but that costs money I don't have.

I have a chainsaw, and some paper to write "free wood" on. It's not like the tree is growing over power lines or abutting the house or something.

Why do YOU have a chainsaw? It isn't like you've been cutting some shit up or anything..

Not since last summer, true. But yeah, chopping down old trees and trimming good ones, tossing scrap wood (has to fit in the waste bin), and that kind of stuff at t00by's house. Plus the bodies.

I have a chain saw as well, though it's probably not big enough for the large tree.. still would probably just hire someone to cut them down, since they handle the disposal. It's a pain to do that yourself, especially now that you have to tie refuse like that into bundles for trash pickup. You use to just be able to cut it down to smaller segments and put it in a pile. And don't get me started on dealing with the tree trimmings.

Tele had a large tree in the background that needed to go (was mostly dead and too close to the new house). Without much effort he found a company that cut it down, chipped it, and hauled it away (including grinding the stump below the lawn line) for like $600. Many companies are charging basement prices on work right now. I imagine if you were willing to get out there and to the sawing yourself, leaving a pile of limbs and trunk in your yard, you could get a damn fine quote on them simply chipping and hauling it away or on someone with a long-bed trailer (the companies that haul junk to the junkyards) to haul it without chipping. Then later on like say in six months you could call them (or someone else) to grind the trunk down.

Or you could rent a long-bed trailer from Home Depot, chop all the limbs down yourself, put them in the rental, haul them to the dump, and have a pro come do the tree trunk/stump later when you have some cash. Probably cost you under $100 for the trailer rental, gas, gate fee to the dump, etc.

i got a tree that needs to be topped. It's diseased and dead about 2/3rds of the way up... I worry it's going to just keep going down and fall on the house one day. :-\ Don't really want to fork out the money for it though. Apparently I have hail damage too... getting an insurance adjuster out in an hour to take a look at my roof. Home ownership is a MOFO!

Yes, London. You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fucking Poppins... LONDON.

we had a pretty good experience with USAA when the wind fucked us up a few years ago. After the claim, they jacked up our premiums for a year, but went back down to normal last August... I was pretty happy with it overall.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes you just can't avoid destroying several at once...

With the tree I removed I just used the chain saw to cut it flush with the ground, but I'm guessing you could probably just rent the tool to grind down the stump.

You could do that. It can be difficult using a chainsaw too close to the ground as you start to get roots and such that grow more horizontal than the trunk, variations in the dirt that might make it difficult to get around one side, &c. You could definitely get it down to 6-8" above dirt without too much trouble though. The thing about the trunks is you want to cut it into pieces maybe a foot long each, at most. I don't think anyone can dispose of a giant log. :)

Just put the logs in the pool and run on them. It'll be fun!

Well, I'm glad to hear that. Listen, I've been fatally poisoned, there's probably a psychopath heading over there to torture and kill you as we speak, but don't bother getting out of bed, I'll be there in a flash... Maybe you could fry me up a waffle or something, kay?
