Well just be thankful he didn't phrase it as, "plus her previous spawn from when she was whoring around before she settled with marrying a dirty Brit."

Now THAT would be rude and insensitive. As it is, you can just infer that he's just being a little thoughtless and didn't mean ill toward your lovely wife and kid.

How old are your kids? And how tall are you? We can't seem to find much of anything that fits the car seats and the driver/passenger seats pushed back all the way and no sitting dead upright. My wifes car, I can't get in with car seats in the back. Two car seats and my stepson on the same row... just not going to happen.

They are 4 1/2 and 20 months. I'm 6'4". To your point, the wife is 5'3" and her seat isn't all the way back. You'll have to go big like an expedition or, god forbid, a GM product (Suburban).

Can you put mudders on a minivan?

6'4... damn, I only met you once (right as you were leaving for AR), and I don't remember you being taller than me! In my PreRunner, the wife has to sit up straight as an arrow, which sucks for long trips... she's only 5'0, but that doesn't seem to help much of anything. Put the kid behind me, and I'm done on comfort/long trips.

So the 20 month old is in a more normal child seat now, and not a baby seat, right? The baby seats take up so much damn room, I can't believe it. Even in the minivans, it's a squeeze depending on configuration.

Can you put mudders on a minivan?

I have to say this much... I don't have a 4x4, but my truck was well suited for racing around on Desert Roads and shitty desert mountain radio tower access roads. It was fun to drive out in Vegas, but out here in NC... everything is private land, I can't even find a long dirt lane to drive down and get dirty. Apparently I can go up near the smokies and find some places to go boggin', but I don't have a 4x4, so that doesn't help matters. While I love my truck, I'm not going to miss it as much as I would if I still lived in Vegas.

Nope, he's a preemie. He is still facing backwards. He is behind the passenger seat in the Explorer. The wife fortunately doesn't need leg room like I do, so it works out well. We have third row fold down seats. When hauling an additional adult, the 4 year old goes in the back seat, the other stays folded down for the stroller. It works okay, but I am not hauling much.

Too bad Econoline vans are unsafe. They can be made very accommodating and roomy as hell. At 41 though, I am a box of puppies from being creepy.

Yeah, trucks are a great extra vehicle for those "I want to bring home three sheets of plywood from Home Depot." moments. Not so much as a family hauler. Manual labor on the other hand....

My sister-in-law has an '01 Explorer that was able to cram my 3yo, their 4 and 10yo all in the second row. relatively comfortably. Cargo wasn't bad either. Think they paid like $10.5k about 4 years ago for it. They make the hour-long trip to Nashville from Ft. Campbell a couple times a month or more and heard no complaints. Also, rented a Jeep Commander last Thanksgiving. They are ugly as fuck and drive kind of like bricks, but they are roomy and smooth. Jeep has a Veteran's program to boot...

I personally love the concept of beating the shit out of something and getting candy in return... Pure Genius

Ok, so what is the URL for personal folders/directories now? I just ftp'd in, pictures still there, but neither of the following work:

Tomorrow is the day. we have an appt at 6am tomorrow morning. Dr today said he didn't understand why she hadn't gone into labor yet.... her body is just giving up, but the baby doesn't want to come out. I guess they're going to break the water first, and see how it goes, and induce if necessary. Apparently the baby is so low (dropped... whatever?) that she should've been in labor already! Blood Pressure is going nuts, and she just can't keep it up. So he's going to be born tomorrow, on my Dad's birthday! That's pretty cool stuff!

No shit, wear a hawaiian shirt if you have one...

They say that in the first moments of life, babies can only see extreme contrasts. So the more contrasting colors and patterns you wear, the more likely they will notice you (which means they are more likely to listen and focus on you rather than the tons of shit going on in the room)

Christopher James Savage, born April 2nd (dad's bday), weighing in at 8lbs 2oz and 20" long... 8 days early.

hahah... depending on when the baby comes, I may end up splitting it up or waiting to take it. I'm not sure yet. If he comes too early, I'd like to time it so we all have Spring Break off together.

how long is the wife taking?

She's taking 3 months. It's a little nail biting to be honest. She hasn't been at her job for a year yet, so she doesn't get FMLA. So it's just on their honor that they'll hold the job. It's a shame too, because at Bank of America, she gets all kinds of maternity benefits had she been there a year. This will all be unpaid time off, but we've been preparing for it.

we live ok, but I do see where the extra money could go. For instance, we just have the one car and my bike is paid off. We have a little credit card debt, but not much. Our big money is spent on the yearly travels mostly, otherwise we live pretty modest

hahah... depending on when the baby comes, I may end up splitting it up or waiting to take it.

They probably don't have money for all those benefits anymore either.. heheh
