Fastest Net Service in U.S. Coming to Chattanooga

In the global race to see who can offer the fastest Internet service, an unlikely challenger has emerged: Chattanooga, Tenn.

The city-owned utility, EPB, plans to announce on Monday that by the end of this year it will offer ultra-high-speed Internet service of up to one gigabit a second. That is 200 times faster than the average broadband speed in America.

i don't know if I would go for the gigabit, but I would definitely hook up the 100M connection.. HELLS yeah. I got to wonder about the TOS and any limitations they might have.. that would suck to burn through it all in once night.

Well, only if the server was local to your ISP. If your traffic has to travel any distance, like say across the country, you'll only see about 3Mbit, due to TCP windowing, etc... though you could check email on hundreds of servers quickly.
