But see, you've had that house for over 10 years, so you've had time to build up a nice collection of tools, plus the garage has always been a workshop. that's what I need to find.. space. I can go back home and get most of my dad's tools when I want.. I just need the sapce.
That's a REALLY big brace for a TV. What are you mounting that too? how big is the TV? I mean, I've mount 50" screen to Ikea furniture and it wasn't that strong or well designed..
It's a 52" Samsung LCD TV.. The mounting holes are 15 3/4" inches square, and I made the mount 2 inches bigger all the way around, so it can always be modified in the future for a different TV. It's over engineered, to be sure, but then, normally you don't weld your entertainment center together, and then lag bolt it into the floor.
Ahhh.. i see. the tower is going to stand up and then the flat plate is the mount place. I was a bit confused about how it was all going to fit together.
No. Read.
My current project is building a new entertainment center. I'm using a couple Siemon racks I got a deal on, and just finished welding up a cross piece to connect the two (like a big H), and a TV mount that attaches to the cross piece.
As for the bad welds, do a bit of sanding.. it makes them pretty. Are you going to paint/powder-coat the tower when it's done?
Painting everything flat black to match the racks. The racks are actually have a little shine to them, since it's a powder coat, but like I said, the pieces I'm welding up are going to be totally hidden by the TV, so it's more so you don't have the bare metal.
