I think this is kind of a hack..living 10 weeks underground in that little mine.. finally getting out through that little hole and the crazy tools that NASA built. Very cool. Glad that wasn't me.. glad it had /is having a good ending.
No doubt dude. It is an inspiring snapshot of the human condition. 33 dudes, mostly laborers, deeply invested in for the sake of human life. They could have been easily abandoned and forgotten by all but their families and the "impossibility" of it all could have been economically explained away to the few people that gave a damn. Instead, no effort was lost in putting no dollar value in simple lives...
And the very next page, you hear how 60 were killed in a military strike, and there are cheers in the streets
we truly are an interesting bunch
